Cynthia Bennett, ASID CID
Founder and President

A Pasadena native, Cynthia is founder and President of CBA. After graduating from U.C. Berkeley with a major in English and a minor in Fine Arts, she started her career in New York in book publishing and originally intended to be a writer. After living in New York for over two years, she moved to the Netherlands where her interest and involvement in architectural remodeling, renovation and space planning began. She found she had a strong talent for construction and design, rebuilding and remodeling several of her own homes in the Netherlands where she lived for 15 years. After returning to the United States, Cynthia studied interior design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. She also attended UCLA for architecture courses with remodeling and space planning as her goal, as well as taking every course offered by the National Kitchen & Bath Association with kitchen and bath remodeling as a specialty. She started her own company, Cynthia Bennett and Associates, Inc. in 1981, and became a general contractor in 1983. Cynthia has served on the board of the American Building Contractors Association, the Pasadena ASID, and is a 10-year member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association. She is a past board member of the Pasadena Playhouse, Pasadena Arts Council, and the Festival of Women Authors. Cynthia is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers and a Certified Interior Designer in the state of California. She holds both a personal general contractor’s license as well as a corporate contractor’s license in the state of California. In addition to design and construction, Cynthia’s interests are landscape design and gardening, Pilates, reading, writing, and travel. She resides in Pasadena in a smart/green home built by her firm in 2003, surrounded by a garden that has been featured on multiple tours.


Carolien Fehmers CID
Director, Interior Design

Carolien is the Director of the Interior Design division at Cynthia Bennett & Associates (CBA).
Carolien studied at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and the University of California, Santa Barbara and received her CID certification in March 2012. Carolien joined CBA in 2007, and her experience and ability have transformed the interior design portion of Cynthia Bennett & Associates into a thriving division. “When I started doing interior design, it felt so natural and I realized that this is where I belonged,” Carolien states. Her approach is to listen carefully to her clients and interpret their wishes into designs that will make their lives both more beautiful and functional. She tries many designs, paint colors and fabrics before making final selections with the client. Carolien is a perfectionist, and she wants the colors, fabrics, floor coverings and furniture to be just right, often creating custom paint colors and custom furniture pieces to satisfy the palette. Her work has been featured in four Pasadena Showcase House projects and several Pasadena ASID Home Tours. Carolien attributes her strong color sense to the intense color studies she enjoyed during her years in the cosmetics industry, working for Lancôme, Shiseido and Aveda. She also was in fashion and eyewear sales for companies such as Gucci, Karl Lagerfeld and Sonia Rykiel, managing a large territory of accounts from San Diego to San Francisco. When she is not working, Carolien is often found riding her horse or working on beautifying her home.


Michael Fehmers
President, Haustech ,
C-7 Contractor, CEDIA

Michael Fehmers is President of Haustech, and he brings with him over 15 years of experience in the home automation industry. Fehmers graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Psychology. He earned his MCSE Certification in Network Administration, and he is a licensed C-7 Low Voltage Systems Contractor. Prior to forming Haustech, he was associated with home automation firms DSI Entertainment Systems (now Via) and Guild Low Voltage. His major industry awards include Best Master Suite – GOLD – 2013 from Electronic House, Best Media Room – GOLD – 2011 from the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA), Best Integrated Home (Level IV) – GOLD – 2011 from CEDIA, and Best Home Theater/Media Room – PLATINUM – 2011 from the Consumer Electronics Association’s TechHome. Michael has a natural curiosity for gadgets and technology and is always on the lookout for the latest and greatest. He has a natural talent for explaining complex systems in a way that the layman can understand. Michael currently lives in sunny Mar Vista with his lovely wife and two boys.



John Von Badinski 

Project Manger

John joined the company in January 2016. Prior to joining CBA he helped run a small family business based in Valencia, CA.  While living in Newberry Springs, CA, he worked in his father’s construction company until he graduated high school. Shortly after school he joined the U.S. Navy Seabees, the Navy’s construction force, where he still serves as a Civil Engineering Corps officer. He has worked on everything from small bathroom remodels to $30 million dollar custom homes. He has a degree in Construction Management and years of hands on experience at running jobs and working with clients. On his free time, he enjoys building custom wood furniture and accessories in his woodshop.



Tim Clark 

Project Manger

Tim has returned to CBA after working for three years as project architect for one of the top custom residential architectural firms in Honolulu. Prior to this he worked for twelve years at CBA as staff architect, project manager, permit specialist, and in sales. He graduated from Syracuse University School of Architecture and is currently licensed in California, Hawaii, and Colorado. An avid outdoorsman, professional ski instructor, kayak instructor, and raft guide amongst others, his current playground is the San Gabriel Mountains where you’ll find him hoofin’ it on weekends.



Gregory Roth

Senior Designer and Materials Specialist

Greg received his BA in Visual Arts at Brown University, and went on to earn a Master of Architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture. In addition to owning and operating his own interior design practice for 15+ years, Greg’s professional background includes commercial architecture and graphic design, as well as an extended stint as director of design at Modern Bite, a baking company specializing in custom-baked treats with bright, modern graphics. A Miami native, Greg is most happy when he has something productive to occupy his hands: woodworking, crafting, cooking, gardening…


 


Peggy Dallas 

Architectural Designer

Peggy is a California licensed architect with over 20 years of residential design experience, much of it involving hillside residential projects. Born and raised is Pasadena, Peggy first studied at UCLA and then received her Bachelors in architecture from UC Berkeley. She has worked at Walt Disney Imagineering, Parsons, and William Pereira Associates.


Stephanie Bramson 
Assistant Interior Designer

Stephanie was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She is also a Licensed Nurse, although her true passion has always been design. While studying Interior Design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise, she worked as a residential stager. After receiving her degree from FIDM, she began working as Assistant Interior Designer for CBA. Stephanie’s other passion is animals-if she could, she would rescue every animal in every shelter!



Giselle Murcia

Administrative Assistant

As an administrative and accounting assistant, Giselle Murcia supports the entire staff so that day to day procedures are carried out in a smooth and efficient manner. She attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, where she majored in Fashion Design. She has always enjoyed working in a creative environment and continues to take courses in fashion merchandising and architecture. On the weekends Giselle enjoys being out and about with her daughter.


Regina Mitchell 
Front Desk Manager

Regina, a contractor’s daughter, grew up in East Texas and relocated to Tennessee to attend Memphis State University where she obtained her B.S. in Zoology. Shortly after graduating, she made the move to South Pasadena. After several years in Animal Medicine she shifted her focus to construction/customer service industries for the past 25 years. Regina is a valuable team player and a “Jill-of-all-trades” that handles just about everything at CBA.  She has a lasting love of animal rescue, Homeopathic and Natural Healing.  She enjoys spending time with her animals, gardening, art history and practicing permaculture.
